Brad Houser is one of those players that tends to run a bit under the radar but has had his hand in such an array of creative projects over the decades that it boggles the mind. He is most widely known as a founding member of the "Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians” back in the 90’s (remember those tasty fretless lines that made you kind of like the songs even if they weren’t your thing?).

I first became aware of Brad as a member of ‘Critter’s Buggin’ (with my now bandmate Skerik). That band flipped me out. It was like Weather Report had a baby with the Ramones and that baby was born into an art-rock theatre troupe out of Berlin (yeah…. that totally made sense to me). Raucous, free-punk-jazz that just did not care what you thought about it (A later incarnation of that band became known as the ‘Dead Kenny-G’s’…. So much fun live and yeah…. The name alone tells you how focused they were on main-stream recognition. They thrived on long van tours and packed, sweaty clubs.

Brad is now an active member of the Austin music scene and gigs/tours with a number of different bands in that area. He’s also a talented bass clarinetist and baritone saxophonist.

There isn’t a ton of stuff floating around the internet with Brad so I wanted to make special mention of him here. Dig into some of these full length shows below…. Some of them can get pretty wild but there’s some real musical gold in there!

Live from Jam Cruise in 2006. These clips remind me of why I have so much fun with Skerik…. I always loved the raucous freedom that this band embodied
