Perhaps best known for his work with Brad Mehldau and Jeff Ballard, Larry Grenadier is widely regarded as one of the strongest, creative and versatile American upright bassists working. While not quite as widely known as Christian McBride or Dave Holland to non-jazz aficionados, his credits speak for themselves.
While he has currently gone the route of many of todays jazz luminaries and taken a teaching position in Europe at the Jazzcampus Basel/Switzerland, Larry remains quite active on the scene both in the studio and on the road. I’m particularly fond of his work with Pat Metheny (check out Pat’s album Trio 99/00 with Larry and Bill Stewart. Truly phenomenal).
